Warranty

Let’s face it, bad things can happen to good products. From time to time you may need to request a warranty claim on something you’ve purchased from us. To make it as easy as possible, please keep in mind the following:

  • Building Controls Group follows the manufacturers warranty policy. These differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and from product line to product line. Please contact us if you have questions regarding if your product is still within the warranty time period.
  • Be sure you have tried to troubleshoot the product. If you have a similar product, put it in place of the problem unit and see it the new unit works. Some other things you could try is to test for proper power. Check dip switch settings. Reset the unit. Be aware that some manufactures will not warranty a product until their support team has tried to fix the unit via a support phone call.
  • Some claims are denied. Not all claims have a happy ending. Be clear in the explanation of the trouble with the product. “Defective” is not an explanation. Manufacturers test the returned product with the claim in mind and if it tests out OK, the claim will be denied and if requested, the product will be returned. This adds extra costs that will be passed on.
  • Understand that there are even some manufacturers who rarely ever allow a warranty claim to be processed successfully.
  • Unfortunately, some warranty claims take months to process. You may want to purchase a replacement before the claim is fully processed.

Warranties successfully processed will generally include credit given for the original purchase price of the product. If a replacement was purchased at the time of the warranty claim, there may have been a price increase since the original purchase. In which case full credit for the replacement will not occur. But keep in mind, the warranty on the replacement is now in effect.
